Transcript Assessment
A Transcript Assessment evaluates your academic background to determine whether you meet the requirements to register as a student with CPA Ontario. Through this review, CPA Ontario can confirm your eligibility and identify any outstanding prerequisite courses or requirements you may need to obtain. The assessment provides a clear understanding of your academic standing and outlines the next steps on your path to becoming a CPA. The fee for a Transcript Assessment is $150 plus HST.
Get assessed for the new CPA Professional Program
Student registration opens in January 2027. Before then you have the opportunity to apply for a Transcript Assessment to find out if you meet the academic requirements for the new CPA Professional Program. On the application, check the box to be assessed for the NEW CPA Professional Program, then follow the prompts.
A Transcript Assessment for the new CPA Professional Program is primarily intended for individuals considering taking the education components online at a CPA Ontario accredited post-secondary institution (PSI). If you plan to complete the education components in-person, contact the accredited PSI directly regarding its admission requirements, then apply for a Transcript Assessment when student registration opens in January 2027.
Transcript assessments typically take up to eight weeks to complete. Processing times begin once all required documents have been received.
- Review the required documents for where you completed your education. Gather everything you need before applying to help avoid delays.
- Create a My Portal account or sign in to your existing account.
- Start your Transcript Assessment application. In My Portal select:
Start My CPA Student Application ► Your Program Pathway ► Application ► Start Transcript Assessment - Under Education History, check the box to be assessed for the NEW CPA Professional Program*.
- If you would like to be assessed for the current CPA Certification Program* (PEP) leave the box unchecked, to get into the final intake of Core 1.
- Follow the prompts and submit your payment.
- Ask your post-secondary institution(s) to send your official transcript(s) directly to CPA Ontario. You'll confirm in your application that you’ve arranged this. Transcripts sent by you will not be accepted as official.
*Transcript assessments can take up to eight weeks. While every effort will be made to process applications received, we cannot guarantee they will be assessed, approved and registered by December 31, 2026. Anyone who is not registered by that date will need to apply to the new CPA Professional Program launching in January 2027 under Regulation 9-3 and meet its requirements.
